How to play Solitaire

Solitaire, also known as Klondike or Patience, is the classic one-player card game. Twenty-eight cards are dealt into seven columns with the top card of each face up, and the rest form the stock. The goal is to move all 52 cards onto four foundations, each built up in one suit from ace to king.

Build the columns downwards in alternating colours, turning over hidden cards as you free them. Tap a card to send it to the best available place, or drag it where you want. Choose Draw 1 for a gentler game or Draw 3 for the traditional challenge.

Solitaire rules

• Build the four foundations up from ace to king, one suit each.
• On the tableau, build columns down in alternating colours: red on black, black on red.
• A face-up run can be moved together; only a king, or a run starting with a king, may fill an empty column.
• Turn cards from the stock one or three at a time; when it runs out, the waste pile is turned back over.
• You win when all 52 cards are on the foundations.
