How to play Reversi
Reversi is a two-player strategy game on an 8x8 board. Each side places discs of its own colour, and every disc placed must trap a line of the opponent's discs between it and another of yours. The trapped discs turn over to your colour. When neither side can move, the player with more discs wins.
The game starts with four discs in the centre and Black moves first. Small dots mark the squares where you can play, and a red dot marks the last disc placed. Play the computer on Easy, Medium or Hard, or choose A friend to take turns on one device.

- Mode Against the computer, or two players on one device
- Plays on Phone, tablet and desktop
Reversi rules
- Place a disc on an empty square so that it traps one or more of your opponent's discs in a straight line, across, up and down or diagonally, between it and another of your discs.
- Every trapped disc, in all eight directions at once, turns over to your colour.
- If you have no legal move, you pass and your opponent plays again.
- The game ends when neither side can move. The side with more discs wins; equal counts are a draw.
Tips
- Corners can never be turned over, so they are the strongest squares.
- Avoid the squares right next to an empty corner: they often hand that corner to your opponent.
- Early on, keeping more moves open matters more than having more discs.

Reversi questions
Who moves first in Reversi?
Black always moves first. Choose White under You play to let the computer open.
What happens if I have no legal move?
You pass, and your opponent moves again. The game ends when neither side can move, usually when the board is full. The side with more discs wins.
Can I play Reversi with two players?
Yes. Set Opponent to A friend and take turns on the same device.
How good is the computer on Hard?
It searches several moves ahead, values corners and keeps its options open, and plays the last dozen or so moves perfectly. Easy and Medium are far more forgiving.
Compare options before disc count
A corner cannot be flipped. Playing diagonally beside an empty corner may let your opponent take it, but check the actual capture lines: the risk depends on the position.
