Rung, also called Court Piece, Rang or Coat Piece, is a 4-player trick-taking card game for two
fixed partnerships with a standard 52-card deck. You and North play against West and East.
Everyone gets 5 cards. The player to the dealer's left looks at them and calls trump; then the
rest are dealt, 13 cards each.
The caller leads the first trick. Follow suit if you can; otherwise play a trump or any card.
The highest trump wins the trick, or else the highest card of the suit led.
Every trick is worth 1 point and goes onto a shared stack. When the same player wins two
tricks in a row, their team claims the whole stack. The first trick of the deal earns no trick
credit, but its point still goes onto the stack, and the last trick always pays out.
Ace rule: the player who won the previous trick can't take the next one with an Ace; it counts
as the lowest card.
One deal decides the match. Reach your target (5, 7 or 9) and you win at once; otherwise the
higher score after 13 tricks wins, and equal scores are a draw.
With bots or with friends
Play with bots is a game on this device against three computer players. It works
offline once the page has loaded.
Play with friends creates a room: share its link and up to three friends join from their
own devices. Empty seats are filled by bots, a player who leaves is replaced by a bot, and if the
host leaves another player takes over. Online play is meant for friends you trust: the game runs
in the host's browser and every player's device receives all the cards, so it isn't cheat-proof.
If online play doesn't connect
If a room can't be reached within about 10 seconds, you can choose Retry, Play with bots
or Back to menu. Check your connection, then retry.
Room is full means four players are already in. That room no longer exists means
the link is old: ask for a fresh one. Game in progress rooms can't be joined.
