How to play Snake

Snake is the arcade classic: guide the snake to the food, and every bite makes it one segment longer and a little faster. The game ends when the snake runs into a wall or its own tail, so the longer you last, the trickier it gets.

Pick Slow, Normal or Fast before you start, and switch Walls to Wrap if you would rather pass through one edge and come out the other. Each combination keeps its own best score in your browser.

Snake rules

  • The snake moves one square at a time and never stops.
  • Eating food adds one segment and 10 points.
  • Hitting your own tail ends the game; so does a wall when walls are solid.
  • With wrap-around walls the snake reappears on the opposite side.
  • The snake speeds up as it grows.
